Outline is a Mac app that addresses both issues: you can easy write down your observations via an interface that resembles a paper notebook.

What’s more, Outline is able to work with Microsoft OneNote file and allows you to use the SkyDrive, Box or Dropbox services to sync the database between devices. This way, you can stay up to date with your notes regardless of what device you are using.

Outline allows you to create multiple notebooks, and you can view all the entries included in a project by browsing vertical tabs. This way you can quickly navigate all the notes related to a specific subject. In addition, you may also add new pages at any time.

Straightforward editing tools and powerful search capabilities

The application comes with basic text editing capabilities: you can change the font style, alignment, color, add bullets, highlight certain areas and more. The Outline pages can also include images and tables, or you can attach separate files.

For your convenience, Outline provides keyboard shortcuts or gestures support for navigating between tabs, but also includes search capabilities. You can perform searches across pages, sections or entire notebooks.

Outline is able to open .one, .onepkg and .onetoc2 files and is fully compatible with OneNote 2010 and later. The app can only read files created by using the OneNote 2007 version and is completely incompatible with files generated by OneNote 2003.
